Our Green Pledge
The TEFAT Green Curriculum is arranged around four interlinking sustainability themes and each Academy is committed to reflect one theme in their own setting. These are Green Systems, Green Regeneration and Diversity, Green Communities and Green Citizens.
Our Green Curriculum is woven seamlessly throughout our entire curriculum, ensuring that sustainability, environmental awareness, and eco-friendly practices are integral across subjects and learning experiences.
George Betts Primary Academy’s Commitment in 2024-25 is Green Systems.
This year we will focus on REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE.
We will:
Dispose of our food waste separately to our general waste. All food waste that is collected is used to create clean renewable energy. Some of it is pasteurised and used in local farming as an organic fertiliser.
Reduce the amount of paper we use. All staff are committed to this, and photocopying is monitored across the school.
Encourage wildlife into our school grounds. We keep our grounds clean and tidy with regular litter picks and maintenance. We have also recently set up a bug hotel and planted wild flowers.
